Filter = Fail

I have seen so many times how much these things DON’T work with just my friend having a filter on their home computers. Australia looks like it’ll be the next country to impliment one. Check it out here.
It’s just another way for the government to step on freedoms.
They give the most retarded reasons for it too. “What about the children?” Firstly I don’t think any child under ten should even be on the internet. I didn’t get internet access until I was twelve and at that time I had a limit to being on it, and the computer was out in the main room so I always had someone around, for the most part, while on it. The thought of looking at shady material never even entered my head at that age though.
Yea porn is sick, and I see how a filter ‘might’ be nice to fight the unwanted stuff from hitting a child’s moniter, but those filters block many sites that are legal and have nothing wrong with them. Not only that but they slow down surfing almost 90%.
China has something similar and my friend who went there recently said it was horrible trying to surf the net there. Very slow and most sites were blocked out for him, I think even deviantArt.
If a kid under ten is on the net it’s a parent’s responsibility to watch out for them, NOT the government. Then again…personal responsibility has lost all meaning in thie day and age it seems. I understand it’s not always possible to moniter a child but too many parents don’t bother at all.
I think something similar was proposed in the states but shot down immediately.
Overall just a terrible idea and anyone who thinks it’s going to help is sorely mistaken. The only thing it does is allow the government to stiffle more freedom.unbreakable

Anyways, in other news I finally found the soundtrack to “Unbreakable” composed by James Newton Howard. I had found a single track back in the lime days and could not find the rest of the score anywhere, and finally while browsing ebay for cheap cds I found it! Nearly mint condition too. The score has some beautiful tracks and reminds me a bit of “Hidalgo” in some places but without the middle eastern influence of course. I would recommend it. It’s still fairly easy to find on Amazon and Ebay.

And I think that’s about all I had to say for now, I really wasn’t planning on blogging again till after the new year but I found something that I felt like talking about. So till next time… Happy New Years Eve!

    thats horrible! i agree completely. parents need to take more responsibility. the government is there to protect people from outside threats, not to protect people from themselves.
