Loss of Freedoms
It bothers me a lot, and moreso lately, that we are losing so many of our freedoms and the majority of people don’t seem to care. As I said in a previous post this newest generation does not care, even the generation before it doesn’t. Apathetic and dumb, they let the government do whatever they want saying they don’t care, they want change. Well they’re getting it. There are a small group that do and have been trying to make a stand, but they are of an older generation. What happened to the younger ones stepping up. Oh right they don’t care and can’t be arsed to put out the effort.
Good example is this article, and this article. Now regardless of how often it happens the fact is they can still seize your personal property for x amount of time with little or no cause at all. If they find something they don’t like they can fine you or imprison you, and ok sure it has caught some shady people but for those that aren’t guilty of anything they lose out. It’s private data. It’s not a case of oh well if you don’t do anything shady you are safe, that’s not the point. It’s the fact that they can seize your hard earned property without any warning at all. This came along with the “Patriot Act”.
Granted it doesn’t happen THAT often now, but who’s to say that won’t change. They can and will do it under the guise that it’s for your own protection and safety.
New policies like this continue to crop up all over the place. The come with the “justified” reason of “We’re catching the bad guys” “We do it to stop terrorism”. Sure… it might catch that 1 in a million person that is trying to cause physical harm to everyone, but that is just an excuse, a ruse, to put everyone’s mind at ease while they steal freedoms left and right. The more they put into law these acts and new regulations the more freedoms we give up.
Got any examples of current acts that are trying to be passed or have passed that just rub you the wrong way?

Its NEVER a good thing when you give more power to the government, cuz the more you give, the more they take and the more controlling they’ll be over the people. It’s a not a pretty sight and I really don’t want to see America go down that road.
I mean, okay, its alright to find people who want to genuine damage to many people, but that shouldn’t mean we should give up our freedoms and live in fear cuz of that.
I’m really disappointed with some people in this newer generation.

Hey, do the Tea Partiers count as younger-generation members count as people trying to take a stand about government policies? Because I know plenty of “younger generation” members who are active in that, and passionate about keeping the government from micromanaging their lives. Actually, two of my under-20 friends are on their local boards of directors.

How about Zero Tolerance. I’m sure you’ve heard of this. It affects everything from corporate life to academia… but it’s most prevalent in schools. It’s an entirely political agenda. EVERY SINGLE independent study done on ZT has found it has absolutely no effect on violence, bullying, harrassment, etc… no matter where its enforced. What it DOES accomplish is punish a lot of innocent children who just want to be able to spread a little cream cheese on their bagels at lunch, or take a painkiller to deal with monthly cramps. There was even a case of a five year old SUSPENDED for carrying a plastic knife to school. Want more info? Randy of “This is True” has a BUNCH. He’s an advocate for removing this abomination.

Oh yes I forgot about ZT, probably cause I haven’t been in a public school since 1999 so it never affected me.
