The actors they got for each character fit well.  I have to say Knoxville is great at playing those eccentric types, course that could just be him in general too.  8D  I really did enjoy his character though.  Schwarzenegger well… you already know what kind of character he portrayed.  The bad guy (Eduardo Noriega) was interesting and cast well and it was kinda nice to see Luis Guzmán again in a movie. 

Would I see it again?  Yeah I wouldn’t mind, I thought it was good enough to own.   Is it worth the theater?  Well I’d say if you want to get out and see something actiony yea, but if you’re tight on cash wait for the DVD.  There’s nothing too amazing in visuals that would require a big screen.  Tt’s a good Friday night film.

Hope everyone had a good one! Merry New Years as well since I probably won’t make another post till after. XD

The beginning is a little slow, I do admit, but it builds up the story nicely and I never got bored with it. Maybe it’s just because I’m a huge Tolkien nerd but whatever. I didn’t see this in 3D, yet, and definitely not the 48fps so I can’t say much for that. I do plan on seeing it again but in 3D this next time, yes I enjoyed it that much, plus it’s a tradition of mine with the LotR movies. So anyways, even with seeing it in 2D it was still stunning, the effects were awesome. The score was made by Howard Shore and like the film, fits right in with the other LotR scores. It was really good and I can’t wait to get my cd in the mail. XD

[spoiler] There were two things I didn’t care a whole lot for, one was the Goblin king and the other was the pale orc side-plot. The Goblin King looked more like a troll that had a scrotum stuck to his chin, it was just really gross looking and they made him a bit too goofy. I didn’t like him and I found how he was portrayed could have been better. The other thing I found a bit eh was the pale orc that killed Thorin’s grandfather. Didn’t happen that way in the book, and yes I know movies aren’t the same, but I thought the book did it better. Ok, it does add more drama to his story I suppose but I didn’t really find it was needed. Oh and I missed that the wargs and eagles didn’t talk… or the fact that there wasn’t much about the eagles at all. Maybe it would have felt out of place since in the other films they never talked, but it was still something I kinda hoped for.
Now this one’s not a complaint just wanted to add, I liked how they introduced Smaug, you never fully see him and that made it more fun.[/spoiler]

Overall, despite my few complaints, I thought it was a great adaptation. This is a very enjoyable film and if you liked PJ’s LotR trilogy I think you’ll like the Hobbit as well. I admit when I had first heard they were splitting this movie up into segments I was a little worried how it would turn out, especially since they didn’t do that for the each book of LotR, but after seeing this first installment I think the next one will be even better. I’m curious to see what they’ve added, changed or left spot on. I really am looking forward to next year. Now I just have to convince my hubby to finish reading the book since the movie “leaves you hanging”.

Life of Pi, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one since I’ve never read the book, but WOW the visuals are stunning. The story is also really interesting and again I got invested in the characters. I don’t have a whole lot to say on this one, cause I’ll probably drop spoilers. I would suggest this one in 3D, again I didn’t see it in 3D for reasons stated above. I do sort of wish I had though because there were some shots that were just made to be in 3D. But yeah this movie is interesting, the story kept it moving along pretty well, the visuals are just WOW. The animals are mostly animated and they did a wonderful job on all of them.

It’s rare that a single month holds three awesome movies, but this one does. Wreck-it Ralph was great! I enjoyed all the characters, the story, the music, and the visuals. It was a fun movie and there’s plenty of funny spots but balanced out well with emotion. It’s another movie where I could really feel for the characters, they all had a lot of depth. The music was awesome, I really liked it, there were a couple popish songs I didn’t like but meh I don’t care, the score makes up for those. I even admit I liked Owl City’s song and the Skrillex song even. :X
The character designs were really great, and each “game” had awesome settings. The Candy Racers game looked sweet, literally, and the contrast between each game was done really well. The story was interesting, it was a “buddy” movie. Overall just good. I don’t really have a whole lot more to say about it. I will be getting this one Blu Ray too when it comes out.

I have been half tempted to go see Guardians and Wreck-it Ralph again in theaters, which doesn’t happen often for me. Life of Pi was really good too, but I don’t think I’d see it again in cinema, though it’s totally worth blu ray. I recommend each of these films, if you’re looking for something light and happy check out the two animated films, if you want artsy with interesting story check out Pi. And if you like both kinds watch em all! XD Ok now I’m babbling so I’ll end this.

So my grandmother’s kitchen, all its appliances, pots and pans are as old as this house.  They’re all from the 60′s. Thankfully a few things have quit working and she was forced to replace them at last. She had been using her stove/oven where two “burners” wouldn’t work, one would superheat, the oven light was completely broken, and it didn’t cook food evenly anymore. All the appliances were that ugly gold color that was so popular back in the day. But anyways, she won’t throw anything out until it’s completely broken, even if it doesn’t work well anymore and it would make her life easier if she did replace it. They have a lawn mower that’s probably as old as I am which is being held together with duct tape and the throttle is held by a rubber band. Yeah that’s how bad they are with throwing stuff out. I’m getting side tracked, so moving on! Her pots and pans, like I said, are old and they’re all pretty much wearing out. She’s used the SOS pad on them so often the bottoms are horrible scratched up, or have foggy spots on the bottom cause of scorched food and most are stainless steel pots with copper bottoms. Needless to say, stuff sticks to them.

My hubby was making some pudding and even though he was being vigilant and watching it so it wouldn’t scorch, it still glued itself to the bottom of this old pot. It was so thick even the SOS pad wouldn’t tear away at it until I had put it back on the stove to boil for about 15 minutes and even then it was tough. Well he told my grandmother she should really get a new pot because it shouldn’t be sticking like that, to which she replied that she’d get the pot clean and looking just like new. So we left the kitchen and let her have her fun with her pot and went down stairs. Well about twenty minutes later I hear the kathumping of her slippers coming down the stairs. She triumphantly strode over to Micha and proudly presented her pot said “It’s all clean. SEE it’s still a good pot.” To which Micha just nodded and, shortly after, face palmed once she’d turned to go back upstairs. Though later on, when he went to use the pot again, there was still some chocolate in the bottom but it is there for good now because no amount of scrubbing is gonna get that thing clean.

I don’t think she’ll ever replace her pots unless the bottoms are worn through.
