This movie was like a lamewad rip off of Jurrasic Park, stupid scientist guy wants to build a park for sabers so people can pay him yadda yadda. Well the sabers go mad and start to eat people. *gasp* Didn’t see that one coming! This movie is SO bad it’s funny, it’s so bad that I actually enjoyed watching it just to see how bad it could get. The “special effects” are so absolutely terrible that it made the movie enjoyable to a certain extent. Not to mention the bad acting. The deaths were so fake, one guy starts screaming and it almost sounds like he’s trying not to laugh. They never really explain things in the movie once the cats start killing either, and the end… well it just ends. It’s one of those “…wait that’s it?” moments.

Just run through some of those clips, the best one being near the end when this giant golden statue that looks like it was conceived in Windows Paint, thrown into picture it to make it look shiny, then motioned tweened in flash. You can see the actor trying to hold still to wait for the giant tooth to come crashing down on him. Most shots you can see the actors just stand there like durrrr there’s a special effect coming, mustn’t move or we might make it hard on the sfx crew.

I would say if you’re looking for a horrible movie to shoot rubberbands at the tv screen on, check this one out. It’s just so horrible, I have to share it with the world. This movie ranks a 9.5 on my epically bad movie-o-meter. Yes believe it or not there are still ones out there worse than this…which I might post about later.

I’ve updated my database now and I’m slowly getting rid of the comments but it’s gonna take a while and I don’t feel like deleting the whole gallery as it took me long enough to get it built up again!

Psh… anyways. So just a little update. I been busy busy busy working on the Jasper book. It’s a kid’s book about cats and I’ve got all but five drawings done for it. There were 31 in total. Whew it’s been hard work and I have enjoyed it but I’m gonna be very happy to have it finished finally.
I’m finishing up the last few private commissions I owe as well.

Health stuff I mentioned a few posts ago is doing better!  The boil is healing still but no more nurses and no more bandages.  :D  Spider bite is gone just the skin returning to normal now.  So  YES glad that is going finally.

Paperwork for my husband’s visa is done!  He can come back to the states with me now!  Quite pleased about that.  Gonna be heading back in September, so this is a busy month between working on the book, packing, and other random stuff we have to fit in before we leave.

As for movies, I saw Knight and Day a couple weeks ago. Pretty good movie, it was fun. Nothing serious at all in it so don’t expect that.  Both actors were really great together, good chemistry.  I also saw Inception and that was a good movie too.  Leonardo DiCaprio is getting better as an actor… in my opinion.  I couldn’t stand him back in his Titanic days.  Maybe just cause I hate Titanic… but anyways.   It got a little laggy in some places but overall really a cool movie. The concept was trippy. Both of them I’d see in theaters just cause…

The Road:

I had seen the trailers and thought, “Hey! This looks like it could be a cool movie, lots of action!” Boy was I wrong! This movie is so boring I started to fall asleep, I’m glad I did not waste my money on it in cinemas.

I think the trailers for this one were the most misleading I’ve ever seen. The only redeeming quality this film had was Viggo, but even he could not save it.

One thing I hated was the shots in this film jumped around so much it got confusing. Flash backs are nice, yes but freaking put them in front of the scene that would make more sense. For example they show a shot of two people playing the piano, ok cool but then they cut to some random shot that has nothing to do with a piano. Then ten fifteen minutes later they actually show the reason for the flashback, the father finds a piano and then mourns the loss of his wife. Why couldn’t they have just put that AFTER he finds the piano, it would have made much more sense.

Storyline was so tedious I ended up looking at the clock about five times before the movie ended thinking “When is this ever going to end? Does the kid ever get kidnapped?” No he does not, even though it looked like it in the trailer. No all this movie is is the trip a father and son take to the east coast, and the father dies and leaves the kid and… FFFFFFFFF BORING! All the other characters in the film stay around for maybe a grand total of five minutes, then you don’t see them anymore. This movie was about two hours long, it felt more like four. They are put in so many situations where an amazing action sequence could have been put in but no they just LEAVE. Nobody chases them or anything. So much setup and so much let down. I kept hoping till the end.

And another thing! They show so many flash backs but not ONCE do they actually say WHY the world is in chaos now, why barely anybody is alive, why all animals are dead, etc. That annoyed me to no end. They showed random giant fires, cities that are completely trashed, but never once even drop a hint of what happened. Ok I can use my imagination but it would be nice to know what these people went through BEFORE just to have a little background.

So my opinion, boring boring boring movie, I will never watch it again. Don’t even bother with it unless you want to watch a bunch of lame dialog and a crybaby boy tailing his paranoid father around a world that’s been blown up and burned to a crisp just to see him die at the end.

The Book of Eli:

I went into this movie hoping it wouldn’t suck. I’ve seen quite a few bad post apocalyptic films lately and none would I watch again. Either boring beyond all reason or there was just no point to the movie at all. So this film was refreshing. It’s not the most fast paced movie ever, but it had a good storyline, and interesting characters, it also makes you think a little.

The ending isn’t terribly predictable actually, which I liked. It was kind of a twist ending. The acting was pretty good and the storyline was rather interesting. One thing that really caught my attention was the music. It’s eery but quite good, slow but still enjoyable. Really adds to the feel of the film. The entire movie is shot in a sepia tone, which I haven’t seen for a while.
It was also kind of nice to see the Bible mentioned in a major film and it wasn’t being bashed. It showed how it will never be used for evil, the “twist” near the end and how a true believer is so devoted even to the end when they hear “the call”.
The movie is a little gory in places but it doesn’t really dwell on it.

I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys post apocalyptic type films, and movies that provoke a little thought.

More reviews soon, cause I just got back from “Knight and Day”, will be seeing “Inception” soon and I have seen “Repo Man” “Shrek 4″ and “Robin Hood”.  I’ll put a little blip about all of them here.

It’s been now a year since Micha and I got married.  We were married on the 4th of July 2009.  :) Seems odd that it’s been that long!  I did miss seeing fireworks and all this year, but ah well.  We still had a nice time.  Went to a nice Chinese restaurant Saturday night, saw “Robin Hood”, which was ok but too long for the amount of story and they should have made the characters more… endearing I dunno.  Anywho, we were going to do more that day but it randomly rained.  Had a little party majigger on the day of our anniversary, Sunday, which turned out pretty good. Had a nice time, even though I was skeptical at first… I’m not a party person.

Yesterday the tall ships came into Antwerp, there weren’t as many there as I had hoped to see but ah well. It’s really the first time I’ve seen ships like that so at least it was something. I got a few photos and this one was one of them that amused me the most… I had to add text. XD

I might post some of the other photos in my photo gallery after I crop them and tweak the colors a little. I got a new digital camera, just a small nikon, but it’s pretty nice. I’m still getting the hang of using it though.

Other than that I’ve been feeling really bad for the last month on and off. I first got sick with a cold, then found out my skin doesn’t like copper had to deal with a nasty rash on my belly from my belt buckle. I got a spider bite on my leg that gave me a fever for two days and made it very very very painful to walk or sit for any length of time. That one required a visit to the ER. Then after that was almost gone I got a boil under my arm on the side of my chest. Which in three days developed into a nasty abscess, probably about the size of a quarter, and the doctor put me on some power pills. Man they are huge, to kill of bacteria, and I’ve got my own personal nurse to come out and dress the wound everyday till it starts looking better. I dread every time it has to be cleaned.

Anyways, nuff on my issues! But that’s basically why updates here and art has been slow this month. I hope that these health issues will be clearing up soon and that I can return to my regularly scheduled arting and whatever else. XD I might be seeing some more movies, and hopefully visit a few places this month to get a bunch of photos. So that’s all for now.

It’s definitely one worth seeing. If you like crime/thriller type movies.
Toy Story 3! It was good, I enjoyed it, but it’s still not going to top the first one in my opinion. Something was missing to it, and I don’t think there was a enough Buzz. It kinda seemed like they tried to cram too much into one movie and were kind of running out of time. The animation, the music, and everything is really good. It is a worthy sequel, but I still just prefer the original. I do recommend checking it out though in cinemas. Maybe not in 3D as there’s nothing really astounding in it that would really look awesome in 3D but just in regular format.

So that’s my opinion on those two movies. I got a couple more movies to post about but for now… this’ll do.

Anyways! So I’m going into this movie with no prior opinion about the series. So other than what I know of Mr. T and some of how the old characters acted and what kind of predicaments they got into, due to friends telling me so much about it, it was all new and fresh to me.

So in my opinion this movie was fun! It was a stretch with some of the things they did, but that’s what made it fun. You know it could never happen but the acting and how it was pulled off made it still seem a little plausible and not utterly cheesy. I think Liam Neeson was a great choice for Hannibal and the guy who they got for Murdock… I think he was what made the movie. The actor for the role of Mr. T did well, I’ve heard he was a little weaker than T, but I think he did fine. And Face, well I dunno how he was in the series, but I think he did a nice job. But  I still think it was Murdock stole the show.

This movie had one of the funniest, most epic scenes I think I’ve ever seen in a film. It is totally not plausible but at the same time… like I said they make it seem like it could happen maybe and be survivable.

*spoiler* Their plane explodes so they drop out of it in a tank, drones shoot the parachutes so that only one is left. So to slow themselves they start to shoot the ammo to “fly the tank”. What goes on between the characters is great in this scene. They end up crashing into a huge lake, and what goes on there was just… epic.  An old man sitting in a boat who’s dropping dynamite over the edge of his boat to “fish”  gets a huge wave from the ammo that has come down from the tank then all of a sudden the tank lands next to him and he goes flying out of his boat.  His wife is sitting on the shore and just laughs a couple times and goes back to what she was going.  I laughed so hard at that part.*spoiler*

How they escape from the prisons is really grand too, and quite hilarious.  I was a little put out they didn’t have more of the van I had heard so much about, but it did show up for a little while. The music is pretty good too, the story was packed full of action and not really a dull moment.

I dunno I find this movie is just one of those fun summer block busters…what a movie should be. It was an escape from reality but just enough in it that it seemed it could happen. The characters were all great, the cast worked well together. The special effects were pretty awesome. I would definitely catch it on the big screen for that. So my verdict on it was it was a good movie! I know a lot of the old time fans might get a little picky about it since it’s a remake, but if you’ve never seen it and are going into it with a clean slate it is really awesome. Go see it.

If you draw a lion or wild cat that kind of has similar colors to one someone is bound to say OMG SIMBA!!! You draw a wolf, no matter what it looks like it’s automatically BALTO. Now to me I don’t get how it’s so hard to distinguish them. Especially if they don’t even have the same body build or colors, but apparently it’s very hard for some. Nothing is original these days, YES this is true, but just because a style is “similar” or reminds you of something doesn’t mean it is. Which also brings me to another point that irritates me to no end.

Art theft vigilantes. I talked about this in my “how not to be annoying” videos. These people drive me up a wall. They constantly run around crying theft!!! When most of the time what they are calling theft is not even close. I have people tell me “you stole that pose!!!” or “That idea has been done before!!!” Ok HELLO people, I don’t NEED to steal art, I’m quite capable of making my own. Secondly, you cannot copyright posing! If you could the first animated movie would probably have all the poses copyrighted to itself and there would be nothing left TO draw. Lastly… as I titled this entry, NOTHING is original anymore. It’s been done!!! People just build off of things that inspire them. I’ve built of the things that inspired me, Bluth films, Disney films, my cat and few other things here and there. It’s evident but it’s also obvious that it’s mine and unique to a certain extent. It can stand on it’s own as my style. It’s not a carbon copy.

I know so many artists that leave the internet and sometimes stop drawing altogether because of these people who are so harsh to anyone who’s art resembles a popular artist. They attack them, flame them, drag them down because they’ve been inspired by another artist. It’s one thing to steal a character design or a style completely but if it’s just inspiration, it should be encouraged. Cause we all started out at that level at one point.

They got a great actor for the role of Dastan. Just browsing through and looking at pictures from the game, he fits the role well. I don’t think there was any character that was cast poorly. You hated the bad guy and you loved the good guy and all were very well portrayed.

The story, which I won’t spoil too much, was fast paced and they built up the characters pretty well. The princess turns out to be a little more than what she initially appears to be. There WAS a cheesy romance running in the movie, but it was kept short and sweet. Sometimes though it’d make me facepalm. For example, yes the only spoiler I will release, when the bad guy is trying to unleash the Sands of Time, Dastan stops for a whole two minutes to stare at the prince and give her a kiss. Ok sure it’s good to kiss her and all but couldn’t you do that AFTER you save the world? I mean the bad guy is just about to unleash the sand by plunging your dagger into the rock that holds it back. Why not go knock him off the cliff then come and kiss your woman? XD I just found that a real eye roller. There were other small things but that was the biggest one. haha

Music in this movie was really good. By Harry Gregson-Williams, and it’s kind of like a mix between Sinbad and Narnia. I found the theme stronger than Narnia and more enjoyable to be honest.

The movie ended well, I don’t think there will be a sequel because it closed. They didn’t really leave it open for one. Which I DO hope they don’t make one because it’s going to turn out like Pirates. Which, ok I did enjoy the sequels to those movies, but they weren’t as good as the first. And now they’re going for a fourth which makes me cringe a bit. The third wrapped it up nicely. Ah well, I just hope they don’t totally kill it with this movie.

Anyways back to my review, Prince of Persia is a good movie! Go see it! I would suggest the big screen just for the action parts and visuals, like when they pan out across the cities or when the sand is whipping around, it’s kinda cool to get the full effect on the big screen. This is one I’ll probably buy when it hits dvd. And that’s my thoughts on it.

I’m not gonna say a whole lot about the story just so I don’t drop too many spoilers. I thought it was interesting, and it kept me interested the whole movie. They had a different actor for the roll of the air force dude. I think I liked him more than the previous. He made the character better. As I mentioned Pepper was annoying. I understand why they made her that way but bah she lost all her charm in my opinion. Tony was still great, he is still the self absorbed man with severe Adonis-itis. Whiplash, the new badguy, was pretty cool. Though I do think they took him out a bit too easily, overall he was a great villain. However… I hated the arms dealer that kept competing with Tony. He was more than obnoxious, I was really hoping he’d blow up, but no… I have a feeling if they make another sequel we’ll be seeing him gain. He was the worst part of this movie. X3

The special effects are still grand like the first one, and the music was pretty good too. Seeing different suits that were designs was pretty neat as well. They switched composers for this film so the music has a different “flavor” to it but it’s still just as nice. All of the actors in this film, even if some of their roles were ultra annoying, did a really great job.

Now I dunno what else to touch on other than if you liked the first one go see the second one. It’s worth seeing on the big screen, and it’s a fun movie. And that wraps up my review for this one.
